WE KNOW THAT PART OF PROVIDING SUCH AN INCREDIBLE PROGRAM TO OUR STUDENTS INVOLVES THE WORK OF MANY HANDS AND MANY HEARTS. WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE EFFORTS AND SUPPORT THAT WE FEEL AND RECIEVE FROM THE FAMILIES OF OUR ENROLLED STUDENTS AND FROM OUR COMMUNITY. HERE AT DEM WE HAVE ROOM FOR MANY VOLUNTEERS SO IF YOU WANT TO GET FURTHER INVOLVED, YOU CAN. WE HAVE TRIED TO PROVIDE A VARIETY OF WAYS THAT PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAN VOLUNTEER AND CONTRIBUTE TO OUR SCHOOL, OUR PROGRAM AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TO OUR CHILDREN. THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!
CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPORTUNITIES:
1) We are looking for an individual who would be willing to come up with two art projects each month and come in and help the students make them.
When: Every other Monday.
What: You can provide an idea of what you would like to do, or the staff at the school can assist you. It can be as fancy or un-fancy as you would like. It can be a seasonal craft or just something that you thought would be fun for the students to do. Pinterest has some great " Montessori Art" ideas, Google, etc. The school will cover all the supplies after you submit what you would like to do, so you will just need to come in and be ready to enlighten!
For the Morning Session we would like the Art to be done between 10:00 and 11:00. For the Afternoon Session we would like the Art to be done between 1:30-2:30. We will work with you in how to best "teach" the children, so that this won't be an intimidating process for you. It should be fun and creative and the students will LOVE it! It's a chance for them to get messy with paint or play dough or clay or glitter or whatever!
Below are some pictures of some age appropriate art projects, to serve as an example of what can be done. You don't have to be a pro artist, just a willing individual with a sense of humor and creativity!
2) Beginning in February, we are looking for volunteers to help out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 - 11:00 in the Morning Session and from 1:00 -2:00 PM in the Afternoon Session. Look for the sign-up sheet on the front counter!
3) Looking for volunteers to come in on Thursdays from 11:30am - 12:00pm to read stories. You can simply read to the children or you can read a story to them and provide an activity, or game, to play with the students that coordinates with the story.
Our Story Time Theme for February is : Spring-Baby Animals-Community or People in the Community.
4) We could use donations of construction paper (especially the larger size) in any color, pink colored pencils, white glue, staples and white card stock.
